You may notice symptoms of pancreatic cancer without realizing it. However, symptoms are often vague and similar to those of other conditions, so it’s important to see your doctor to find out if they are actually related to pancreatic cancer. Symptoms of pancreatic cancer can range from severe back pain to pale faeces. Because this cancer is quite rare, symptoms of pancreatic cancer may be misinterpreted as unrelated symptoms of other illnesses.

Early detection is essential, as this cancer tends to spread to nearby organs. Treatment options are based on the stage of the cancer and its spread. Surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy are all options for treatment. Although the survival rate is poor, the disease is curable if detected early. If you do experience symptoms, you should quit smoking, maintain a normal weight, and drink alcohol in moderation. If symptoms persist, your doctor may recommend a second opinion.

A GP may order some tests to assess the symptoms of pancreatic cancer and will refer you to a specialist. The specialist may be a surgeon or gastroenterologist. He will consider the options available and discuss them with other health professionals during a multidisciplinary team meeting. You will be required to undergo several tests, including ultrasounds, blood tests, and MRIs, as the symptoms of pancreatic cancer may be similar to those of other diseases.

Pain is another common symptom of pancreatic cancer. This pain may be dull or radiate from the upper abdomen. Some patients may experience bloating as well. During treatment, a doctor may prescribe pain medications to ease the discomfort. Depending on the stage of the disease, chemotherapy or radiation may be used to shrink the tumor. Patients may also experience nausea and vomiting. A large lump may be felt under the right side of the ribcage. The patient may also experience problems eating or passing stools.

Other symptoms of pancreatic cancer include a high temperature. A large pancreas may cause a high temperature. The person may also experience indigestion, heartburn, bloating, and sickness. While these symptoms are common in the general population, if they are persistent and unrelated to another disease, it’s time to see a doctor. Blood clots can also be an indicator of pancreatic cancer. These blood clots can form in the leg veins or even elsewhere in the body.

A patient suffering from pancreatic cancer may experience jaundice or abdominal pain. Jaundice is a common symptom of pancreatic cancer. However, if the disease is caught early enough, jaundice will be less obvious and easier to detect. Jaundice is characterized by yellow skin and eyes. It may also be accompanied by dark urine and stools. If accompanied by pain, this symptom may signal the presence of a cancer in the pancreas.

Other symptoms of pancreatic cancer may include gallstones, bile duct blockage, and liver swelling. These symptoms can be detected through imaging. A CT scan may be done to check for cysts in the pancreas. A CT scan may be used to detect cancer, as it helps guide a biopsy needle to the tumor. It can also be used to look for signs of cancer in other organs.

People who drink alcohol are at an increased risk for pancreatic cancer, but the disease isn’t the only risk factor. Alcohol consumption increases the risk for pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas. Heavy alcohol consumption can also result in hereditary pancreatitis, a condition of the pancreas. People with a diet high in red meat, processed meat, sugar, fried foods, and cholesterol also have a high risk of pancreatic cancer.

Treatment of pancreatic cancer will vary. Treatment options include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Surgery may be necessary if the disease has spread to other organs. The Whipple procedure may be performed to remove tumors in the pancreas. The procedure is highly effective, and it is associated with few complications. However, this procedure is not for everyone. For patients with advanced disease, the focus may be on pain relief or on relocating tumors.

Diarrhoea and constipation are common symptoms of pancreatic cancer. Diarrhoea can be painful and pale and may be accompanied by stomach pain. You may feel weak or bloated for no apparent reason. Consult your GP if you’re experiencing any of these symptoms. Your symptoms may be temporary and unrelated to pancreatic cancer. If they’re persistent or are not associated with any of the other symptoms listed above, it’s likely that it’s something else.
