Most people with gallbladder cancer do not experience any symptoms, but it is possible to recognize it early by experiencing the following signs and symptoms. The most common of these is abdominal pain, which usually occurs in the upper right portion of the abdomen. Some people may also experience jaundice, a yellowing of the skin and eyes caused by a buildup of the substance bilirubin in the blood. Light-colored, gray-colored stools are also indicative of the build-up of bilirubin in the body.

Another symptom of gallbladder cancer is yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes. Bilirubin is the pigment that gives stool its yellow color, and cancer can block the ducts, causing jaundice. If cancer has spread to the liver, it can block these ducts, leading to yellowing of the skin and the white part of the eyes. Symptoms of gallbladder cancer may include a yellowish skin tone, abdominal pain, and other problems.

The American Cancer Society has identified five stages of gallbladder cancer: stage I (in situ) is the first stage of cancer, which is limited to the gallbladder and nearby lymph nodes. Stage IIIA (external spread) describes cancer that has spread beyond the gallbladder, affecting the surrounding muscles, organs, and lymph nodes. While this type of gallbladder cancer is rare, it is still important to receive a proper diagnosis as early as possible.

The next stage is called non-papillary adenocarcinoma. It affects people aged 65 and older. Women are affected twice as often as men. Most people who develop gallstones are at risk. Furthermore, chronic inflammation of the gallbladder (cholecystitis) increases the risk of gallbladder cancer. The majority of gallbladder cancers occur in the gland cells responsible for producing mucus.

Chemotherapy is another option for gallbladder cancer treatment. Chemotherapy uses drugs to destroy cancer cells. These drugs may be injected into the affected area or taken orally. Examples of chemo drugs include Gemcitabine, cisplatin, 5-fluorouracil, capecitabine, and oxaliplatin. Unfortunately, these treatments come with many side effects. However, the best option for a patient with gallbladder cancer is to find out its symptoms as early as possible.

Surgery may be needed for gallbladder cancer. Ultrasound will help determine the extent of the tumor by examining the surrounding organs. Surgery may be necessary to remove a gallbladder or remove a portion of the gallbladder. Diagnostic laparoscopy is one option. A more invasive option is an open laparoscopy. Surgical interventions for this condition include bile duct stents, which will allow bile to flow past the blockage and into the small intestine.

The first step for treatment is a diagnosis. Gallbladder cancer symptoms can be treated with chemotherapy and surgery. Treatment depends on how quickly your disease is detected and what type of surgery you undergo. It is important to seek early medical care to ensure that your recovery will be successful and prevent the spread of the cancer. This procedure will also help your doctor to plan the surgery. If you have already experienced the first signs of gallbladder cancer, your doctor will prescribe treatment.

If diagnosed early, gallbladder cancer is curable and can be removed with surgery. Treatment will include palliative care and chemotherapy if surgery is not an option. If the cancer spreads to other parts of the body, doctors may use chemotherapy and radiation to ensure that the disease is removed. However, the outlook is more favorable for those who are diagnosed early. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek medical attention.

Although rare, gallbladder cancer is common among men and women in the U.S. and is twice as common among women as in men. Chronic typhoid is another symptom that may cause irritation of the gallbladder. Symptoms may include persistent typhoid or a large polyp. In extreme cases, the disease can even lead to extensive scarring of the gallbladder.

Ultimately, the prognosis of gallbladder cancer will depend on the stage and type of the disease. A biopsy is a procedure that removes tissue or fluid and examines it under a microscope for cancer cells. The treatment for gallbladder cancer is largely determined by three factors: the size of the tumor, the type of cancer, and how far it has spread. Depending on the stage, treatment options will vary, but a biopsy is the only way to confirm the diagnosis and make sure that the cancer is curable.

Surgery is the most common treatment for gallbladder cancer. A surgeon may remove the entire gallbladder and surrounding tissues, which will decrease the chance of the cancer reoccurring. Surgical removal of the gallbladder is usually the best treatment option for early-stage gallbladder cancer, but it is important to note that it is not the only way to treat the disease. There are also some patients who experience pain in the abdomen or abdominal area after the surgery.
