A physical examination of the abdomen may not reveal any signs of liver cancer unless it’s an extremely large mass. Liver cancer and its symptoms can be difficult to recognize unless the patient is obese. Patients can feel a mass in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen while lying down. However, this physical examination may be obscured by obesity. In this case, a liver surgeon will perform an extensive exam. The following symptoms of liver cancer should not be ignored or delayed.

Although the majority of liver cancers don’t cause symptoms, some patients may experience a tumor that is hard to feel. The tumor may be hard to detect until it grows to a large size and pushes against other organs. Symptoms may not be apparent until the tumor has spread to other areas of the liver, causing other complications. In such cases, liver cancer is difficult to detect and treat. There are two types of liver cancer: primary and secondary. The difference between the two is that primary cancers have a tumor, while secondary cancers don’t.

A biopsy is the most reliable way to diagnose liver cancer. It involves removing a sample of liver tissue from a patient’s body. A biopsy is done when cancer cells are visible in the liver tissue. MRI and CT scans can be used to guide the needle into the tumor. Surgery is another procedure for evaluating the liver. A surgeon will insert a long, flexible tube with a camera into the abdomen.

In addition to cancer of the liver, it is important to understand the signs and symptoms of cirrhosis. Chronic, enlarged livers can affect the kidneys, resulting in decreased blood flow to the kidneys. About 40 percent of patients with cirrhosis develop hepatorenal syndrome, which is usually irreversible. Liver cancer can also cause other health problems like hepatic encephalopathy, which mimics Alzheimer’s disease.

Treatment for liver cancer may include chemotherapy or ablation. Radiation therapy and chemotherapy drugs are commonly used for the treatment of liver cancer. Ablation therapies use electromagnetic waves, radio waves, or heat to kill cancer cells. In some cases, a doctor may also use an injection of pure alcohol or radiation beads into the hepatic artery. These treatments are both effective in treating the symptoms of liver cancer, but they do have side effects.

While liver cancer symptoms may not necessarily indicate liver cancer, these conditions are associated with a higher risk of the disease. A physical exam and medical history will determine the risk of developing liver cancer. Your doctor will also conduct a liver function test to determine whether your liver is healthy. The symptoms of liver cancer will be different for everyone. For example, you might be suffering from cirrhosis, a chronic disease of the liver that increases the risk of cancer. You may also have an underlying health condition called nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Treatment for liver cancer may involve surgery. In severe cases, a liver transplant may be recommended. However, you may have to wait a long time for it. Alternatively, your doctor may choose other treatments to control your disease. One of the treatments for liver cancer is a procedure called trans arterial chemoembolisation. During this procedure, chemotherapy is injected directly into the affected area of the liver to block the blood supply to the tumour.

Some of the most common early signs of liver cancer include a hard lump in the right upper abdomen that may appear under the rib cage. Pain and swelling may also be felt in the back below the right shoulder blade. If these symptoms are present, liver cancer is most likely a primary cause. You should seek medical attention to ensure that it isn’t anything more serious. The sooner you notice any of these symptoms, the better.

Once a diagnosis is made, doctors will perform a physical exam and determine your risk factors for the disease. Imaging tests may be necessary to determine if liver cancer has spread to other organs. These tests may include ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) scan, and magnetic resonance imaging study. A doctor will also order blood tests to assess the state of the liver and its function. These tests will also check for certain substances, such as alpha-fetoprotein.

Stage 1 liver cancer is the most common type of the disease. It has not spread to lymph nodes or other parts of the body. Stage 2 and stage 3 tumors measure at least five centimeters and may be limited to a small area. Stage 4 cancers can reach the lymph nodes and lungs. As a result, treatment options are limited and may require regular screenings. This disease is often life-threatening, so it is essential to take action right away.
