There are many Colorectal Cancer Symptoms, and not all of them are actually indicative of the disease. While many patients go to the doctor when they have bowel problems, the condition may actually be something harmless. To help determine whether you have colorectal cancer, follow these steps. Your healthcare provider will examine you and perform tests if necessary. They will also review your medical history, ask you about your symptoms and risk factors, and perform a physical exam.

If you have been diagnosed with colorectal cancer, you may also have a stoma, a new opening in your belly. The colostomy is a new opening, and a pouch sticks out of it that collects stool. Patients with these symptoms may feel a sense of panic or anxiety. They may want to consult a family doctor, but many individuals experience anxiety or fear when dealing with the disease.

There are three stages of cancer. Stage 0 (cancerous in situ) is the earliest stage, meaning the cancer has not spread beyond the inner layer of the colon. Cancer in stage 1 has reached the colon’s wall, but has not spread to lymph nodes or distant organs. Stage 4 is considered more advanced, and has spread to other parts of the body. Listed below are the Stages of Colorectal Cancer.

Usually, the cancer cells that form a colon lining are precancerous polyps. These polyps may become cancer if left untreated. If these polyps are detected early, the cancer may be treatable or at least treatable. If caught early with a routine screening, colorectal cancer is often curable. If it has spread beyond the colon wall and has metastasized, it is often too late to treat.

Symptoms may not be noticeable at first. However, they may become more obvious when the tumor has spread. To determine the exact stage of colorectal cancer, a doctor will conduct a colonoscopy and test for blood in the stool. Treatments for colorectal cancer include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Fortunately, if caught early, colorectal cancer can be completely cured.

Many of the symptoms of colorectal cancer are similar to those of other common conditions, such as hemorrhoids, irritable bowel syndrome, and infection. However, they are more severe, long-lasting, and can change over time. Early detection is key, because treatment is more effective if the disease is detected at an early stage. The symptoms of colorectal cancer can appear even after the disease has spread. Regardless of when the symptoms first appear, it is always a good idea to have a regular screening to check for the disease.

Early colorectal cancer symptoms may be nonexistent or very mild. Some may not even show any signs of the disease until it has advanced to stage two or three. People who have a family history of colorectal cancer may benefit from regular screening. Consult with your doctor to determine when to start screening for colorectal cancer. The sooner you start the process, the better your chances are of detecting the disease before it is too late.

The most common type of colorectal cancer is adenocarcinoma. Adenocarcinomas begin as a polyp. This can be removed during a routine colonoscopy. However, if a polyp is large enough, it may become cancer. Colorectal cancer symptoms may vary greatly. But, once you find them, your doctor can determine if they are cancerous or not.
