Although Gallbladder cancer is rare, it is often fatal. The disease occurs in later stages, and it is often diagnosed after cancer has spread to other organs. While the causes of gallbladder cancer are not yet known, some risk factors include ethnicity and lifestyle. In the U.S., people of Latin American, African American, and Native American descent are more likely to develop gallbladder cancer. Genetics and access to healthcare are suspected factors in the increased risk among Latin Americans and Native Americans.

A diagnostic test that may be performed on your gallbladder is a computed tomography (CT) scan. This test uses X-rays to produce detailed images of your internal organs. The procedure takes between 20 and 90 minutes, and it uses contrast material that coats the digestive tract. If the scan shows abnormalities, a surgical procedure to remove the gallbladder may be performed.

There are also symptoms that may be related to other health conditions. Gallbladder cancer may occur in people exposed to certain chemicals, such as those in the textile and rubber industries. Other risk factors include people with the PSC gene and those with gallstones. Gallbladder cancer is a rare disease, and symptoms are often hard to recognize. If you think you may be experiencing any of these symptoms, you should visit your healthcare provider for an examination to see if you have gallbladder cancer.

Stage is an important part of diagnosing gallbladder cancer. The TNM system divides tumors into stages. Stage 0 is the earliest stage, while stage II is the most advanced. The TNM stage is based on the size of the primary tumor, whether it has spread to nearby organs, and whether or not it has metastasized. If it has spread beyond the gallbladder, the tumor is considered Stage IIIA.

The doctor may take a biopsy of the gallbladder for a closer look. This test can take place during a laparoscopy or cholangiography. A pathologist will review the sample and look for signs of cancer. Based on the findings, the doctor will discuss possible treatment options. Surgical removal, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy are the three main treatments for gallbladder cancer. The type of cancer cell also affects the prognosis.

Most gallbladder cancer patients experience abdominal pain, usually in the upper right abdomen. Symptoms of gallbladder cancer may be difficult to recognize because they may be caused by another condition. Jaundice is a yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes and may be caused by a gallbladder tumor blocking bile ducts. Jaundice also causes pale stools and is one of the primary warning signs of gallbladder cancer.

If you experience any of these symptoms, you should seek medical treatment as soon as possible. If your doctor finds the gallbladder cancer early, it may have the potential to cure you. In most cases, the tumor will remain small and not spread to other organs or tissues. If it has spread, surgery may be the best option to treat it. However, surgery is only effective if it is caught early. Once it has spread to distant organs, gallbladder cancer may be too advanced to be diagnosed.

Surgery may be the best treatment option for gallbladder cancer. In most cases, surgery can be performed on the gallbladder if the cancer is small enough. If it is too advanced for surgery, radiation or chemotherapy may be used. While removing the gallbladder is the most effective treatment option, other treatments may improve the quality of life for the patient. It is important to seek treatment as soon as possible, before it spreads to other areas of the body.

Other tests may be performed to confirm the diagnosis. Imaging procedures can show the extent of the disease. If the doctor is unable to confirm the diagnosis, a biopsy is necessary. Once the doctor has identified the cancer, they can then discuss treatment options. If your doctor suspects gallbladder cancer, a biopsy may be the only way to determine whether or not it is cancerous. The treatment plan depends on the severity of the cancer and the symptoms.

Several risk factors increase the risk of gallbladder cancer. Genetics and chronic long-term infection with Salmonella bacteria are two additional risk factors. Family history of gallbladder cancer is also a risk factor. In addition to genetic factors, chronic inflammation of the gallbladder is linked to gallbladder cancer. In the United States, women who have a family history of gallbladder cancer have a higher risk of developing the disease. When this stage of the disease has progressed, the symptoms of gallbladder cancer are usually not obvious.
