If you’re experiencing any of the following symptoms, you may be experiencing gallbladder cancer. While these are typically in the early stages of the disease, they can also be signs of other illnesses. You should always seek medical care for any unusual symptoms. If you feel constant pain in the upper right corner of your stomach, you may have a gallbladder cancer symptom. This pain may be accompanied by other symptoms, such as fatigue, fever, or abdominal swelling.

Gallbladder cancer is a type of cancer of the bile duct. There are several different stages of gallbladder cancer, ranging from Stage 0 to Stage IV. The higher the stage, the more advanced the disease. Stage 0 gallbladder cancer means that the cancer has not spread into the deeper layers of the gallbladder tissue or to other organs. In addition, Stage 0 cancer has not spread to nearby lymph nodes or vessels.

Early symptoms of gallbladder cancer can be difficult to recognize. Most people who have gallbladder cancer experience pain in the upper right abdomen. However, pain may also be accompanied by loss of appetite. The other gallbladder cancer symptoms are bile duct blockage and jaundice. Although this is not always a symptom of gallbladder cancer, it is important to be aware of them.

Surgery is one of the main treatments for gallbladder cancer. This treatment method involves the use of drugs to destroy cancer cells. Chemotherapy drugs may be injected or taken orally. The typical chemotherapy drugs are gemcitabine, cisplatin, oxaliplatin, and 5-fluorouracil. The side effects of chemotherapy may include vomiting, diarrhea, and easy bruising.

Depending on the type of symptoms and the location, a biopsy may be performed. This procedure involves inserting a thin needle through the skin. A CT or ultrasonography may be used to guide the needle. A biopsy may also involve surgery, such as an open or diagnostic laparotomy. Occasionally, a bile duct stent is placed to let bile flow through a blocked duct. These stents can be inserted during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.

After biopsying the gallbladder, doctors will decide on the stage of the cancer. Stage 0 describes no evidence of cancer, while stage I and II describe the presence of a tumor within the gallbladder and surrounding peritoneum. Stage IIIA describes the presence of a tumor that has spread beyond the gallbladder but has not yet invaded nearby lymph nodes. Once the stage of the cancer has been determined, the doctor will determine the appropriate treatment.

Other gallbladder cancer symptoms include jaundice, a yellowing of the whites of the eyes and skin. Bilirubin, a substance that gives stool its color, can accumulate in the blood and settle in other parts of the body, including the skin and eyes. When bilirubin ducts are blocked, the gallbladder can swell. Once the gallbladder is damaged, it may spread to the liver and other parts of the body, such as the lungs. Ultrasound imaging may also reveal gallbladder cancer symptoms.

The survival rate for gallbladder cancer is a very low 1%, but certain lifestyle choices can reduce your risk. A healthy diet, limiting processed foods, and getting at least two and a half cups of fruits and vegetables per day can improve your chances of survival. Further, regular exercise is beneficial to keep your weight healthy and strengthen your immune system. The five-year survival rate is a good indicator of how much time you have left to live.

In addition to CT scans, your doctor will probably order an MRI scan. This exam uses X-rays to create detailed cross-sections of your body. A dye is sometimes injected through a vein or swallowed to make organs easier to see. If the doctor suspects gallbladder cancer, he or she will likely perform an abdominal ultrasound to determine if there is a tumor.

You should visit your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of these symptoms. Because gallbladder cancer can spread to other organs, you should seek medical care as soon as you suspect you may have the disease. Most people do not notice any symptoms of gallbladder cancer until it has spread to distant organs. Fortunately, treatment is possible and can save your life. This article focuses on identifying the signs of gallbladder cancer so you can begin treatment.
