Most people experience sadness, loneliness, and depression from time to time. However, when these feelings persist for a long period of time, they can become a debilitating condition. If you feel that you may be suffering from depression, it is best to visit your doctor for an evaluation. The physician can determine the exact cause of your symptoms, and help you to deal with the debilitating side effects of the disease. In some cases, untreated depression can last for months or years. This can be painful, and for one in 10 people, it can lead to suicide.

In general, symptoms of depression are most common among adults aged 18 to 29 and those 65 and older. However, adults aged 18-29 were more likely than those in the 45-64 age group to experience mild symptoms. This difference is not significant for adults 65 and older. However, severe depression symptoms were reported by a slightly larger percentage of adults aged 45-64 than those aged 18-29.

According to the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), one-in-five adults suffered from depression symptoms within the past two weeks. Although the numbers for non-Hispanic adults are higher, Hispanic adults were less likely to experience moderate or severe symptoms. However, it is important to note that these numbers do not represent an accurate picture of how depression affects individuals.

There are many different causes of depression, including biological, social, and psychological factors. If the depression symptoms persist, it’s important to get treatment as soon as possible. This will prevent the symptoms from getting worse and prevent them from reoccurring. Even though some people recover and go on to live a normal life, many people with the disease experience relapses at least once in their lifetime.
