The symptoms of Parkinson disease vary from person to person, and in some cases, can be subtle and go unnoticed for years. Parkinson symptoms can include a slowing down of the movements, tremors, difficulty in walking or talking, and oily skin. People with the disease may also lose their ability to think and plan. Other symptoms may include changes in the way a person speaks or writes, or problems getting out of bed.

Parkinson disease is progressive, and the symptoms generally start on one side of the body and progress to the other. In the early stages, the symptoms may not be noticeable to others and may be manageable with medication. The later stages of the disease will cause a more severe disability, with symptoms affecting both sides of the body. Patients with stage 2 may have difficulty walking, speaking, or maintaining proper posture.

Exercise is an important part of the treatment of Parkinson disease. Exercise helps improve muscle strength, balance, and flexibility. It also helps reduce depression. Your doctor or physical therapist may recommend an exercise program for you to follow. Some exercises may involve walking, swimming, and stretching. While doing these exercises, it is important to be gentle and avoid moving too quickly.

Another symptom of Parkinson disease is bradykinesia, or slow movement. It is a common symptom of the disease and is often accompanied by other signs and symptoms. Patients with Parkinson’s disease may have difficulty starting movements, balancing, and walking. Some people may experience difficulty in completing daily tasks, including taking a bath.

There are various medicines available to treat Parkinson’s disease. Most of them are effective, but some people may still need to take several different medications. Surgery can also be an option, reducing the need for medicines and easing symptoms. A doctor can also implant electrodes in the brain to help control the disease.

Essential tremor is an involuntary rhythmic tremor that affects the hands, arms, and head. It’s caused by nerve cells dying for unknown reasons. When the nerve cells die, the brain produces less dopamine and can no longer control movement. Some patients may have a tremor while others don’t.

The main form of treatment for Parkinson’s disease is levodopa. This drug works by stimulating nerve cells to produce more dopamine, which replenishes the brain’s dwindling supply. It’s best taken in conjunction with a complementary drug known as carbidopa. The combination of these medications reduces the side effects of levodopa and reduces the dosage needed to improve symptoms.

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disease in which the nerve cells in the middle of the brain no longer produce enough dopamine. It affects people aged 60 years or older, and is more common in men than in women. Genetics and exposure to chemicals in the environment are thought to play a role in the development of Parkinson’s disease. Some people are at a greater risk because they have a family history of the disease. Additionally, exposure to environmental toxins or head trauma can also increase the risk.
