There are a variety of symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, from slow movement and soft speech to changes in blood pressure and skin texture. These symptoms can be mild or severe, and they may be difficult to detect in early stages. However, as the disease progresses, the symptoms will become more apparent and can interfere with daily activities. The most obvious symptoms of Parkinson disease are slow movement and loss of balance. Eventually, patients will be unable to stand unassisted, and they may need help to complete everyday tasks.

The brain region that controls movement contains nerve cells called substantia nigra. These neurons normally produce dopamine, a chemical that helps the body control movement. However, when these nerve cells die, the body produces less dopamine and has trouble controlling the movements. This results in a disorder called Parkinson’s disease, in which the body produces excessive amounts of glutamate to compensate for the lack of dopamine. This results in shaking of the arms, legs, and hands, which usually subsides when the limbs are used. However, not everyone will experience shaking.

Surgery can help manage some of the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. While it cannot cure the disease, it can help control tremor and rigidity and may decrease the amount of medicine needed to control the symptoms of the disorder. One FDA-approved surgery involves implanting a small electrical device into the brain. The surgery has helped some people manage the disease and decrease their reliance on Parkinson’s medicines. These surgeries are usually performed during an outpatient procedure that involves a short stay in a hospital.

Exercise is an important part of treating Parkinson’s disease. Exercise improves muscle strength and flexibility and helps with balance. Additionally, it can also improve a person’s overall well-being and decrease feelings of depression. A physical therapist can help patients get started on an exercise program. Some exercises include walking, swimming, and stretching. In addition, it is important to avoid overdoing it or moving too quickly.

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disorder of the brain which affects the ability to control movement. The symptoms will usually start gradually and worsen over time. Individuals with the disease may also experience mental changes, such as sleep problems, depression, and memory problems. It may also be difficult for patients to speak or walk.

Parkinson disease is caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. It is more common in older people, but it can affect anyone. A family history of the disease can also increase your risk. Exposure to toxins can also increase the risk of developing the disease. Patients with Parkinson disease have rigid muscles and postural instability, which can lead to falls and gait problems. So, it is important to pay attention to the signs and symptoms of this disease to ensure you have the proper diagnosis.
