The world of exotic cars is full of expensive wonders that make us drool. From Ferrari’s engineering to Bugatti’s technology and Koenigsegg’s design, there are plenty of options available for people who can afford to spend millions on a car.
But which one is the most expensive? Here’s a look at the 10 most expensive cars in the world.
1. Bugatti Chiron Profilee
One-off cars are all the rage in this luxury car age, with brands offering bespoke design and personal commissions to attract the most wealthiest customers. The Bugatti Chiron Profilee fits that bill.
Designed at the request of customers, it’s based on the extreme Chiron Pur Sport but with shortened gear ratios and a more classically elegant body. It’s also the fastest accelerating Chiron, capable of hitting 62mph in 2.3 seconds and topping 236mph.
That’s more than enough to justify the astronomical price tag. Only 10 have been made.
2. Mercedes-Maybach Exelero
With a price tag of $8 million, the one-off Exelero is a testament to automotive craftsmanship and draws an unmistakable line between luxury and performance. It is also a symbol of exclusivity and has been featured on TV shows and even in a Jay-Z music video.
The Exelero was built at the request of Fulda Tyres as a tyre testing rig and was capable of reaching 217mph. The vehicle now resides in the Dietzholztal automobile museum.
3. Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4
The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 stunned the world when it first hit the market. It’s a clear symbol that Lamborghini is entering a new era, with incredible innovation and stirring design to back it up.
It features a beautiful Caleidolegno veneer and a rear compartment that transforms into a sophisticated hosting suite. This car will cost you $28 million, but it will be worth every penny.

4. Bentley Speed Six Continuation
A miniscule subsection of the population will own this hand-built $2 million machine. Bentley says the 12 cars it will produce as part of its Continuation Series are meticulous recreations of the Le Mans winners from 1929 and 1930.
Each Continuation Series Speed Six uses original blueprints and scans as reference points and employs period-correct tools, fixing, and techniques. The company also enlists UK-based specialist suppliers to make the car’s components.
Don’t bother sending a letter or carrier pigeon expressing interest, though. All of the cars were spoken for a year ago.
5. Rolls-Royce Sweptail
Designed for a patron whose identity remains as exclusive as the car itself, this Rolls-Royce masterpiece represents the pinnacle of bespoke luxury. Inspired by the grace and elegance of yachts and aircraft, the Sweptail boasts Caleidolegno veneer on its aft deck and a rear compartment that transforms into a sophisticated hosting suite.
When your bank account looks like the GDP of a small country, you need an automobile worthy of your status. These cars combine unforgettable design work with boundary-pushing performance. They don’t come cheap, though.
6. Bugatti La Voiture Noire
This one-off black masterpiece is the epitome of bespoke luxury. Its name translates to ‘the black car,’ and the Noire takes subtle design cues from the 57SC Atlantic line that Bugatti lost during World War II.
The owner of the Noire paid almost EUR11 million before taxes, about four and a half times more than a base Chiron. The deep-black carbon fiber bodywork is handcrafted and treated to a gloss finish that generates no reflections.
It houses a monstrous 1,500-horsepower engine. The Noire is also a tribute to the original black car that Bugatti had hidden before World War II.
7. Rolls-Royce Boat Tail
The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail is a masterpiece of bespoke automotive luxury. Inspired by J-Class yachts and the hull shapes coachbuilders grafted onto Rolls chassis in the Twenties, it features an electrical rear deck that opens to reveal a hosting suite with a parasol and cocktail tables.
Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi is one of three lucky owners, alongside power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce. The dark blue hue of the exterior is matched inside by Royal Walnut veneer and a myriad of other hand-crafted details, including two Bovet 1822 reversible watches that can be worn or mounted as car clocks.
8. Bugatti La Voiture Noire 57
At the Geneva Motor Show, Bugatti showed off a new one-off model called La Voiture Noire. It’s priced at around $11.8 million before taxes.
It’s an homage to the original Type 57 SC Atlantic, a car that was hidden before World War II and has never been seen since. If it ever comes to light, it could fetch over $100 million.
This latest special car is built from carbon fiber and features the same W16 8.0-liter quadri-turbo engine as the Chiron. It’s also hand-built. It’s a true piece of automotive art.
9. Aston Martin Vantage
As the smallest, least expensive car in Aston Martin’s lineup, this front-engine sports coupe has all the style and exclusivity that you’d expect from such a storied marque. It’s also an exceptional driver’s car.
With a body that’s almost a foot shorter than DB11, the Vantage is a compact yet assertive looker. However, its beauty doesn’t come cheap. The Vantage’s standard warranty is short in terms of coverage and doesn’t include complimentary maintenance. That’s a big drawback for some potential buyers. However, people with enough money to buy one can afford to pay for a longer warranty if they prefer.
10. Aspark Owl
The Owl is Japan’s first fully electric hypercar, with million dollar looks and a 2.9 million euro price tag. The Japanese company claims that the Owl is able to reach 62 miles per hour (or 100 kilometers per hour, for those of you in the metric world) in just 1.69 seconds.
The firm behind the Owl is Aspark Co, an engineering firm founded in 2005 with 25 offices worldwide. The company specializes in engineering, web-related development, and of course, hypercars. The first 50 Owls are already sold out, and prices will only rise over time.
