Cancer is categorized according to its stages and growth rate. Cancer stages include grading, which indicates how similar the cancer cells are to healthy cells. Generally, people diagnosed with cancer stages 4 will have a median survival of 16 to 24 months. But in some cases, new treatments are available that allow people to extend their lives.
