If you think you have colon cancer, you need to avoid certain foods that aggravate your symptoms. For example, caffeine and alcohol contain substances that increase the production of stomach acid, which is known to cause heartburn and difficulty swallowing. In addition, they can make you sleepless, which can worsen the side effects of chemotherapy. Alcohol can also contribute to dry mouth, increase acid levels in your body, and cause pain in your throat.

Diverticulitis is a disorder where the muscular wall of the colon deteriorates and outpouches. This condition affects about half of adults. It causes pain and inflammation and can be treated effectively. Perforation, on the other hand, is the most severe complication and requires surgery. In some cases, polyps, which are benign and do not turn cancerous, can cause similar symptoms as colon cancer. In such cases, prompt treatment may be necessary.

Symptoms of colon cancer vary from patient to patient. Some people have no symptoms at all. Others may feel a dull belly ache. If you notice any of these symptoms, it is best to see your doctor immediately. While most colon cancers are not accompanied by any pain, persistent abdominal discomfort should be treated immediately. If your symptoms persist, you may have colon cancer. If you have persistent abdominal pain, you should see a doctor for further evaluation.

Excess weight and lack of exercise also increase your risk of colon cancer. To avoid colon cancer, try to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Be sure to consult your physician before beginning an exercise program. He or she can give you a list of exercises that are safe for you. You should also avoid high-calorie and fat diets, as well as excessive alcohol consumption. In addition to those, smoking also contributes to numerous health issues. Try to include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in your daily diet.
