If you have colorectal cancer, you will experience several common symptoms that will alert you to its presence. You may feel abdominal pain, lack of energy, and fatigue. These are some of the most common symptoms of colorectal cancer, but there are many others that may be caused by other health issues. To learn more about colorectal cancer symptoms, read on. Fortunately, the majority of colorectal cancer cases are treatable at an early stage.

Your doctor will use a variety of diagnostic tests to determine whether you have colorectal cancer. Depending on your symptoms, a physician may recommend a colonoscopy, blood tests, or chemotherapy. Surgical procedures can cure colorectal cancer if it is caught early. For this reason, every person over the age of 50 should have a colonoscopy to detect the disease. A surgeon will remove the affected part of your colon in order to treat it.

Once the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, it is considered stage III. There are three smaller stages: stage IIIA and stage IIIB. Stage IIIA is characterized by cancer that has spread to one to three lymph nodes. Stage IIIB is characterized by cancer that has spread to four to six lymph nodes and impacts organs in the abdomen. Stage IIIB is characterized by cancer that has spread beyond the colon wall and is affecting the lymph nodes.

While colorectal cancer symptoms may not be immediately apparent, they are often common and can be signs of other health problems. Seeing a healthcare provider is the best way to determine whether you have colorectal cancer. Your provider will ask you about your symptoms, risk factors, and family history of the disease, and will likely perform a physical exam. If these symptoms persist for several weeks, talk with your doctor and schedule a colonoscopy to rule out other medical issues.

If you notice blood in your stool, make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible. If your stool is bright red or dark, it may be an indicator of colorectal cancer. You should also see your doctor if you notice any other symptoms. Anemia or low red blood cell count may also be symptoms of colorectal cancer. If your stool is black, tarry, or bloody, you should get a blood test to determine the cause.

Most colorectal cancers are adenocarcinoma. This type of cancer begins as a polyp. These polyps are harmless and can be removed during a routine colonoscopy. If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s time to see your doctor. You could have colon cancer and have no idea it’s there. The first step in curing it is to seek treatment.

Left-sided colon cancers tend to grow slowly, resulting in a blockage sooner than in the right-sided colon. This type of cancer usually takes time to develop and cause a blockage, making stools more solid and less liquid. In addition, stools with coloration from a right-sided colon tumor may appear tar-like, making it difficult to recognize. Patients may also complain of abdominal pain, fatigue, or bleeding.

A patient with colon cancer may experience difficulty passing stool, which requires surgery. Surgery may involve removal of part of the colon or neighboring lymph nodes. The surgeon may then reattach the colon to the rectum. Alternatively, a colostomy (a tube placed in the abdominal wall) may be necessary. This procedure may be temporary or permanent, depending on the extent of the cancer. Some patients may need additional treatment, including chemotherapy.

Colorectal cancer is caused by the accumulation of abnormal cells in the lining of the colon. These growths, known as polyps, can develop into cancer if left untreated. While removing these polyps is not a cure for colon cancer, it can help prevent its symptoms. However, some people are at an increased risk of colon cancer due to risk factors. These include age, ethnicity, and family health history.

People at higher risk of colorectal cancer should pay particular attention to their symptoms. Personal history of colorectal cancer, multiple family members with cancer, or inflammatory bowel disease are some of the risk factors. For these reasons, it is imperative to be screened every five years by a doctor. The sooner you detect these symptoms, the better your chances of survival. If you have colorectal cancer, talk to your doctor today! They will ask you questions about your symptoms and the frequency and duration. If the symptoms persist, visit your doctor for an examination.
