While most types of liver cancer are curable, some people must continue to be monitored for the rest of their lives. In many cases, liver cancer treatment includes chemotherapy or a liver transplant, but the outlook for a patient with the disease depends on several factors, including their age, general health, stage, and timing of diagnosis. Liver cancer is curable if detected in its early stages. Patients with this type of cancer are advised to see their healthcare providers for routine checkups and follow-up imaging and blood tests every three to six months for at least the first two years after treatment.

While most liver cancers do not cause symptoms, some are detected during incidental scans for other intra-abdominal diseases. Abdominal ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI are some of the tests used to diagnose this disease. A doctor should be consulted if any of these symptoms occur. Symptoms may include abdominal pain or swelling, or a hard lump. Liver cancer may also cause fever or a change in mood.

A high fever, also known as a “fever of unknown origin,” is one of the first signs of liver cancer. It can limit a person’s diaphragm movement when it is large. If the liver is located in the right lobe, swelling will occur beneath the skin. Ascites is a fluid accumulation beneath the skin of the abdomen caused by an enlarged liver. This fluid may cause abdominal pain and nausea, as well as a metallic taste.

Although many symptoms of liver cancer are harmless, it is important to be evaluated by a physician. Early detection is critical for a good prognosis. Early detection is crucial, especially if a person’s symptoms are severe. Even those without a family history of the disease can develop the condition. If these symptoms are present, a doctor can diagnose and treat the disease. The treatment of liver cancer depends on its type.

After liver cancer has been detected, the disease may be treated with chemotherapy. In most cases, the first step of treatment involves biopsy, a procedure that removes a small piece of liver tissue for analysis. This biopsy can be performed by ultrasound, MRI, CT, or laparoscopy. Liver cancer therapies depend on the stage of the cancer and the patient’s overall health. If the cancer has spread beyond the liver, a biopsy may be required.

There are several risk factors for developing liver cancer. Some of them are hereditary, and others may have no connection to a specific type of cancer. Some people develop a condition known as metabolic syndrome, which increases the risk for developing liver cancer. It is also important to monitor the symptoms of a condition like metabolic syndrome, as early detection can prevent the formation of liver cancer. You can also talk with your doctor about hepatitis screening, which can help you to detect any potential signs of the disease.

In the event that the disease has spread to the lymph nodes, you may be in Stage I, also known as stage I. In this stage, there are a few small tumors on the liver that have not reached the main blood vessel. In stage III, the tumor has grown larger than 5 cm and may have spread to lymph nodes and large blood vessels. In stage IV, the tumor has spread to the lymph nodes, lungs, or bones. If the cancer spreads to other areas, surgery may be necessary.

Primary liver cancer is hepatocellular carcinoma, which starts in hepatocytes. In young children, it is called hepatoblastoma. These two types are similar in that they can form cysts in the liver and may rupture into the abdominal cavity. Besides cancer cells, there are other types of tumors that can affect the liver. Some are more common than others, and some of them can be fatal.

Depending on the stage of liver cancer, liver transplant may be recommended. However, there is a long waiting list for this procedure, and patients may need to be on the waiting list for a liver transplant. In this case, their treatment options can include other procedures for controlling the cancer. Some patients choose to undergo chemoembolisation, also known as trans arterial chemoembolisation, which involves administering chemotherapy directly to the liver area affected by cancer. This treatment aims to prevent the tumour from spreading to other areas of the liver.

Aside from surgery, ablation therapies may be recommended. These treatments are aimed at killing the cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue. Radiation therapy can be very effective at killing tumors, but can also cause side effects. Patients may also opt for chemotherapy. In this type of treatment, a physician will insert a small needle-like probe directly into the liver tumor. This probe will then deliver the drugs to the liver tumor.
