It’s difficult to live with Parkinson Symptoms, but you can get help managing the condition. Your healthcare provider can prescribe the right medications for you and help you understand how they affect your body. In some cases, you can even undergo surgery to help control the symptoms. While this procedure doesn’t cure the disease, it can help control tremor and rigidity, and may even decrease the amount of medication you need to take. The procedure is known as lesion surgery and involves scarring tissues in the brain to block the area that causes tremors.

Motor symptoms of Parkinson disease include slowness in movement, muscle stiffness, and lack of balance. Often, these symptoms begin slowly and are limited to one side of the body. As the disease progresses, however, symptoms may spread to other areas of the body. People who have Parkinson disease may also have difficulty making facial expressions.

Symptoms of Parkinson disease vary in severity, from mild to severe. Many people with the disease begin with only one symptom, such as tremor. As the disease progresses, however, the symptoms can increase, eventually leading to dementia. Some early symptoms may not even be visible to a medical professional. The best way to detect Parkinson symptoms is to visit a movement disorder specialist. The symptoms of Parkinson disease will vary from person to person and are typically divided into two categories, nonmotor symptoms and motor symptoms.

The underlying cause of Parkinson’s disease is a decreased level of dopamine in the brain. You can protect your brain from this condition by eating foods rich in antioxidants. These foods include nuts, berries, and nightshade vegetables. You should also avoid foods high in saturated fat, as this may increase your risk of developing the condition. You can also take omega-3 fats to help protect your brain from damage.

Early symptoms of Parkinson disease may be hard to recognize, because they may mimic other health issues or normal aging. Your healthcare provider will likely want to monitor you for a long time in order to get an accurate diagnosis. As a rule, lab tests and blood tests will not diagnose the disease, but they will help rule out other conditions and give you a more accurate diagnosis.

If your symptoms are severe, you may need to try a trial dose of a drug called levodopa. Levodopa is an anti-psychotic drug, and it can help relieve symptoms. However, it’s important to know the dosage and side effects of any medication you’re given. You’ll want to be sure to discuss this with your doctor because a wrong dosage can have serious consequences.

While levodopa is the most common Parkinson’s treatment, other medications are also available. Both drugs replenish dopamine in the brain, which is the chemical messenger that controls movement. The medication is usually taken with another drug called carbidopa, which reduces its side effects and increases its availability at the blood-brain barrier. Some people will also need to take dopamine agonists, which imitate the action of dopamine in the brain. These drugs are usually taken in combination with other medications and may be used to help control other symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.

Although many drugs for Parkinson’s disease have been proven effective, their effectiveness diminishes as they age. However, these medications can still provide adequate management of symptoms even in late stages. Some people may not respond to other types of therapy, so surgical intervention may be an option. Deep brain stimulation, or DBS, is a procedure that involves implanting electrodes in certain parts of the brain. These electrodes are connected to a neurostimulator, which sends pulses through the body to relieve symptoms. Another option is Duopa, which is a pump that delivers levodopa and carbidopa to the brain.
