The most common type of MS is relapsing-remitting, with episodes of disease activity followed by periods of recovery. The symptoms may disappear completely during remission, or they may continue and even get worse. If you experience one of these episodes, you should see a doctor right away to get an accurate diagnosis and start treatment. But how can you know if you have MS? Read on to learn more about the symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis and how to deal with them.

MS treatment includes disease-modifying therapies, which are FDA-approved treatments for MS. These drugs help slow the disease’s progression and reduce the number of attacks. However, these treatments do not cure the disease, and some side effects can be quite serious. Those with mild symptoms may not be eligible for these treatments, due to the risks and side effects of some of the medications. If you have relapsing MS, your doctor may recommend a high-dose of corticosteroids to help reduce the inflammation and damage to the myelin sheath. Other medications, like dantrolene, may be used to treat muscle stiffness and other symptoms. Nonetheless, these drugs should be used with the assistance of a doctor who is specially trained in treating MS.

Several tests are available to confirm the diagnosis of MS. Evoked potentials, or EEPs, record the brain’s electrical response to different stimuli. Evoked potentials show if messages are slowing down in different parts of the brain. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis, also known as lumbar puncture, is another test used to determine if MS is the cause of symptoms.

Some women suffering from MS experience difficulty walking and may require a wheelchair or walking assistance device. These symptoms may increase a woman’s tiredness, so she should plan enough time for rest. MS women are more likely to develop urinary tract infections, so drinking plenty of water will help avoid those. Be sure to notify your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms so she can help you address the issue. This way, you can ensure that your baby is delivered safely.

Many people with MS experience difficulty with balance, coordination, and sexual dysfunction. Because the MS lesions in the brain and eyes affect the optic nerve, symptoms such as dizziness, blurred vision, or double vision can be caused by the disease. The person may also experience pain when moving his/her eyes or performing other activities. In addition, the person with MS may experience problems with memory and cognitive function. However, this does not necessarily mean that it is MS.

MS can manifest itself at any age, but the onset is most common in people between the ages of 20 and 40. Infections, exposure to drugs, and hormonal changes may also trigger the disease. Researchers are focusing on finding the genes that cause the disease and researching the potential triggers. Ultimately, they hope to find a treatment for the disease. There are many other symptoms that are associated with MS, but there is no sure-fire way to determine if you have MS.

The symptoms of multiple sclerosis depend on the location of your lesions in the brain and spinal cord. The disease attacks the myelin sheath around nerve cells in the central nervous system. Because the immune system attacks the myelin, the information traveling from the brain to the body becomes affected. This disrupts the normal flow of information and causes symptoms in the brain and spinal cord. The symptoms of MS may be hard to recognize because they may be similar to a number of other illnesses.

Several lifestyle changes can help to manage these MS symptoms. People with MS should avoid smoking and secondhand smoke as they increase their risk for developing the disease. Those who smoke should avoid being near people who smoke and change their clothes before coming indoors. MS patients should also focus on maintaining a healthy diet and getting adequate rest. In addition, people should avoid extreme heat as it causes severe muscle weakness and nerve pain. Avoid hot baths and showers and find ways to cool down.

Those suffering from multiple sclerosis may experience pain at various times throughout the disease. Many times this pain will be sharp, stabbing, or chronic. People with multiple sclerosis experience pain most often on their face, neck, and back. Pain may also be caused by stress or hot baths. Fortunately, symptoms of multiple sclerosis may improve over months or years. And if you experience them now, you can treat them before they progress to the more severe form.
