Unlike other types of cancer, pancreatic cancer symptoms are not always immediate. In fact, some early signs of the disease are so vague that they can be overlooked. Some common symptoms include abdominal pain, fatigue, and yellow skin. The early symptoms of pancreatic cancer are often difficult to detect, as the pancreas is located deep in the abdomen behind several other organs. As a result, early cancer symptoms may go undetected until the tumor has spread throughout the body.

The first early warning sign of pancreatic cancer is new-onset diabetes. If the patient is not overweight, new diabetes medication may be the first sign. In addition, dark urine indicates that there is an excess of bile in the blood. Light-colored stools indicate that the bile duct has been blocked, preventing it from draining into the intestines. While symptoms associated with pancreatic cancer are often vague, some of the most common signs may occur in patients over the age of 40.

Several of the symptoms associated with pancreatic cancer vary from person to person. Some symptoms are worse when lying down or after eating. Some people may also experience a blood clot in a large vein, known as deep vein thrombosis. Patients with this complication can experience pain, swelling, and redness. If the blood clot travels to the lungs, they may experience chest pain, which is referred to as pulmonary embolism.

When pancreatic cancer is detected early, treatment options may include surgery or chemotherapy. Surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy can be used to remove the cancer. Chemotherapy can be used to help relieve pain, and targeted therapy can be used to target specific cancer cells. In a clinical trial, a promising new cancer treatment may be tested against cancer-related drugs and combinations. Patients should discuss their options with their doctor and consider all options.

Many people with pancreatic cancer will seek medical treatment due to pain. The pain is often referred to the body of the pancreas rather than to the tail, and may be worse when the patient is lying down or sitting forward. Back pain, in contrast, is usually felt in the middle of the back and is often persistent. Although the pain associated with pancreatic cancer is often described as abdominal pain, it can also be caused by tumors in the stomach.

In addition to the above symptoms, patients may also experience constipation or diarrhoea. Patients over the age of 60 should see their GP if they have diarrhoea or constipation. Further, patients who suffer from steatorrhoea may notice a pale poo (steatorrhoea). Although steatorrhoea and constipation may be completely different, they share many of the same symptoms.

While there are no specific risk factors for pancreatic cancer, several factors are known to increase your risk of developing the disease. Heavy alcohol consumption is associated with chronic pancreatitis. In addition, people who consume a diet high in red and processed meat, fried foods, and high in fat and cholesterol are at an increased risk for developing the disease. When this occurs, the pancreas has a hard time metabolizing sugar and bile.

Painless jaundice is also a sign of pancreatic cancer, although it’s worth noting that some people with the condition don’t feel pain. Regardless of the cause of jaundice, the condition is a serious health concern. A physician can tell if you have these symptoms by performing a physical examination. Symptoms of pancreatic cancer may not be immediately apparent, so it’s crucial to consult a medical professional.

Pain and discomfort in the upper abdomen can indicate the presence of pancreatic cancer. The pain may also be the result of another condition, including a stomach cyst or tumor. If the tumor has wrapped around the far end of the stomach, it may block the digestive tract and cause pain while eating. This can also lead to nausea and vomiting. A doctor may also recommend a stool-digestion test to confirm the presence of pancreatic cancer.

Jaundice is a symptom of pancreatic cancer caused by an excess of bilirubin in the blood. Bile ducts are narrowed by a pancreatic tumor and block their flow. This causes bilirubin to accumulate in the blood and cause a yellow appearance of the skin. Jaundice can also result in abdominal pain. Further signs include abdominal pain, weight loss, and bilirubin levels.
