Small bowel cancer symptoms vary from person to person depending on the type and location of the tumor. Some tumors, such as the carcinoid type, do not cause symptoms at all, and are often discovered by accident during a diagnostic imaging procedure. Other symptoms include bloody stool and jaundice, particularly in the upper body. For more information, speak to your doctor or health care provider. You may also notice flushed skin.

If you notice a mass or visible blood in your stools, you likely have small intestine cancer. Some types of tumors do not have symptoms, such as carcinoid tumors, and may be diagnosed accidentally during an imaging procedure. Symptoms of cancer in this organ include bleeding or bloody stools, jaundice, and flushed skin, especially in the upper body. In addition, you may also have a family history of this disease.

Some risk factors increase your risk of developing small intestine cancer, but they are not absolute. People who have certain gene mutations, such as Lynch syndrome or Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, are at an increased risk of developing this disease. Additionally, people with Crohn’s disease, celiac disease, or inflammatory bowel disease may also be at risk. Lastly, individuals with a weakened immune system are more likely to develop small intestine cancer, although some people have no family history of this disease.

After surgery, people with small bowel cancer may receive chemotherapy or radiation therapy to help kill any remaining cancer cells. This type of treatment is known as adjuvant therapy, and depends on the type of cancer. The most common type of treatment for small bowel cancer is surgery. Surgery is usually recommended for early-stage cancer and is not recommended for lymphomas in the small bowel. However, chemotherapy is often used as part of palliative care.

CT scans of the small intestine are often used to identify small bowel tumors. CT scans are also used to identify cancers in other parts of the body. These images can show the extent and location of the cancer, and help doctors determine the best course of treatment. Once cancer has been diagnosed, exploratory surgery will be needed to remove the affected parts of the small intestine. While there are other symptoms of small bowel cancer, these are the most common symptoms of the disease.

If you notice blood in your stool, you may have small bowel cancer. This tumor may block the flow of food and cause problems with digestion. The affected portion of the intestine may become blocked, resulting in painful abdominal cramps. You may also experience anemia or have black or tarry stools. These symptoms may be difficult to detect, but they are important to understand so you can seek treatment immediately. These symptoms of small bowel cancer are often vague and similar to those of colorectal cancer.

Besides being a warning sign of small bowel cancer, small intestine tumors can be signs of other diseases. Sometimes they are not visible, so you may not even know you have one until your doctor finds it accidentally while performing an unrelated procedure. If you suspect you have small bowel cancer, your doctor may perform imaging tests to find out where it is located. The prognosis for this type of cancer varies greatly based on your age, health, and other factors.

Other signs and symptoms of small bowel cancer may include pain, nausea, or abdominal swelling. Other symptoms are similar to those of peptic ulcer disease or irritable bowel syndrome. The pain and discomfort associated with small bowel cancer may be long-lasting and are often mistaken for symptoms of other conditions. Sometimes, you will notice a change in your appetite or weight. Some people will also experience vomiting or deformation of the abdomen.

The first sign of small bowel cancer is bleeding. The symptoms of this cancer include a painful obstruction, or bleeding during bowel movements. Treatment varies depending on the stage of the disease and the size of the tumor. Sometimes, chemotherapy or surgery may be needed. In some cases, a patient with small bowel cancer may only need supportive care until the tumor grows to an inoperable size. If this occurs, your doctor may opt for other treatment options.

Some people who have symptoms of small bowel cancer may have lymphoma or a sarcoma. Both types of cancer develop in the connective tissues of the gastrointestinal system. In addition, some people develop lymphomas in the lymph nodes, which are also found in the digestive tract. These cancers begin in the lymphatic system, which is an essential part of your body’s immune system. If you develop one of these tumors, you may need to undergo a series of tests to determine if it has spread to other parts of the body.
