A large study of 9721 consecutive autopsies reported that 112 patients had small bowel cancer. Of those, 72 were benign. This suggests that the rate of asymptomatic lesions is higher than reported. Small bowel cancer symptoms can be a sign of cancer, but you may not experience any. Symptoms may only appear in the first few days of the disease. Asymptomatic lesions do not necessarily signal small bowel cancer.

To rule out bowel cancer, doctors may recommend imaging tests. MRI or CT scans may reveal a tumor in the small intestine. A CT scan may also show signs of spreading the cancer. Surgical removal of the tumor may be necessary. Depending on its location, a doctor may perform exploratory surgery. If the tumor is found in the bowel, a doctor may recommend an additional treatment, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

Nonspecific small bowel cancer symptoms may include abdominal pain, bleeding, or blood in the stool. The presence of tumor tissue can block the flow of food, resulting in abdominal pain. The tumor may also bleed, leading to anemia. Nonspecific small bowel cancer symptoms often delay diagnosis. A patient who suffers from generalized abdominal pain is at a higher risk for developing it. It is also important to note that small bowel cancer symptoms may also occur as a result of other conditions, including Crohn’s disease.

If you suspect any of these symptoms, contact a doctor immediately. Small bowel tumors are painful, and should not be taken lightly.

While small bowel cancer symptoms are generally non-threatening, many of them may be caused by other conditions. Sometimes, small bowel tumors are slow-growing and may not cause any symptoms at all. They may even be discovered by accident during another procedure. And, in some cases, diagnosis of small bowel cancer can take years. So, if you’ve been experiencing any of these symptoms, you should consult a doctor immediately.

Small bowel tumors are rare and affect only small portions of the intestine. In fact, only 1% to 2% of gastrointestinal cancers are small bowel tumors. They typically occur in patients between 65 and 74 years old. And because of their size and location, they’re difficult to diagnose. The only definitive treatment is surgery. So, you should know the signs and symptoms of small bowel tumors.

Despite its name, small bowel cancer symptoms can be vague and confusing for other conditions. Small bowel cancer symptoms may look like irritable bowel syndrome, peptic ulcer disease, and other diseases of the small intestine. Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and weight loss. Some people may not even experience any of these symptoms. Small bowel cancer may also result in a tear in the colon and a blockage or obstruction.

The first sign of small bowel cancer is the presence of polyps. These growths are benign and can be present or absent in the intestine. They occur in two main types: neurofibroma and adenomatous polyposis. While the former is a single tumor, the latter is a group of inherited diseases affecting the intestine. People who suffer from Crohn’s disease or have weakened immune systems have a greater risk of developing small bowel cancer.
