Some of the symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) are disabling, and you may need a rehabilitation program if you experience these issues. These programs can help patients return to their highest level of functioning and independence. They may also help improve their social, emotional, and physical quality of life. Read more about MS and rehabilitation below. Once you have been diagnosed with MS, your doctor can help you understand and manage the symptoms.

Early symptoms of MS include numbness or tingling, which can affect the face and body. Sometimes, this tingling can be accompanied by an increased risk of developing bowel incontinence. In some cases, MS may cause the person to lose bladder control, which may result in constipation and bowel incontinence. Fatigue is another symptom of MS. It may make the patient feel drowsy or tired all the time, and it can also affect bone density.

People with MS may have only one type of disease at a time, and it can be difficult to pinpoint when they start developing progressive MS. The disease occurs when the protective layer of myelin surrounding nerve fibers is damaged. The process is believed to be triggered by an immune response or by an environmental factor. Regardless of how the disease begins, early diagnosis can be critical to changing the course of the disease. The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are described below.

If you experience these symptoms for 24 hours or longer, your doctor may suspect MS. You may also have a neurological exam that reveals reduced function in one area of the body or loss of sensation in one part. Your eyes may show changes in vision or abnormal pupil response. Your doctor will want to see you to rule out any other underlying conditions that could be the cause of your symptoms. There is no cure for Multiple Sclerosis, but treatments can help you live a normal life.

People with MS have a number of underlying conditions, including genetics and environmental agents. The immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells, including the myelin surrounding nerves in the spinal cord and brain. Damage to the myelin sheath interferes with the normal flow of information between the brain and body. Eventually, this results in symptoms in the brain and spinal cord. The symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis are often hard to distinguish.

Primary progressive MS is the most common form of MS and affects about 15% of people with the disease. Symptoms tend to worsen over time, and people who suffer from this form of the disease tend to have relapses and remissions more frequently. In addition to the symptoms, patients with MS may also lose their ability to write and speak. Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis are caused by the damage to nerves throughout the body.

Treatments for MS include drugs, physical therapy, and other treatments. Disease-modifying therapies, or DMTs, aim to slow the progression of the disease and reduce relapses. These drugs do not reverse current symptoms but can help you stay as active as possible. However, it is important to discuss the risks and benefits of all drug options with your doctor. Medications can help ease certain short-term symptoms of MS, like muscle stiffness. Other medications affect the long-term outcome of the disease.

Symptoms of MS can vary greatly, from mild to severe. Some people with MS can experience relapses after quiet periods of the disease. The relapses and remissions are characterized by a gradual decrease in neurologic function, followed by a period of stability. In addition to the relapses and remissions, many people with MS may experience anxiety or mood disorders. There is no cure for MS, but the disease will continue to evolve and improve.

Treatment for Multiple Sclerosis may include intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) medication. This medication, which is derived from antibodies of healthy blood donors, decreases the unwanted immune response in MS patients. However, it is important to note that IVIG may cause muscle and joint pain and low-grade fever. Taking IVIG is not the first choice of treatment for relapses of MS. It should be discussed with your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms during pregnancy.
