Symptoms of pancreatic cancer may range from the following: abdominal pain, vomiting, or diarrhoea. The condition may also cause a gallbladder to fill with excess bile. Imaging tests may also reveal gallbladder tumors. If the cancer has spread to the liver, the organ may become swollen. Diarrhoea is also a symptom of pancreatic cancer, and older patients are more likely to develop diabetes.

While there are no specific symptoms of pancreatic cancer, many patients experience some of these conditions. The most common early sign of pancreatic cancer is new onset of diabetes in someone who is not obese. New diabetes medications can also be a sign. In some patients, dark urine may indicate an elevated level of bile in the blood. Light-colored stools, on the other hand, are an indication of a blockage in the bile duct, which is responsible for transporting bile to the intestines.

While the exact cause of pancreatic cancer is unknown, studies have identified several risk factors. Smoking and being overweight are two of the main risk factors. People with a family history of pancreatic cancer may also have heavy exposure to chemicals at work. Taking a high-fat diet, consuming large amounts of red meat and high levels of saturated fats, and drinking large amounts of sugary beverages are also risk factors.

Patients with early symptoms of pancreatic cancer may not be aware of their disease. These symptoms may be caused by another medical problem, such as a bacterial infection, or they may be related to an unrelated medical condition. Patients with these symptoms should listen to their bodies and consult a physician immediately. In addition to seeing a doctor for any new symptoms, diagnostic tests may be needed. If these symptoms persist, it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Diarrhea is a common symptom of pancreatic cancer. Because it results from nutrient absorption, stool may be watery, oily, or foul-smelling. In addition to these symptoms, a tumor that blocks the pancreatic duct may cause insufficient amounts of pancreatic juices to reach the intestines. This leads to undigested food passing through the digestive tract quickly. In addition to the symptoms mentioned above, the faeces may appear pale or greasy, or float.

Treatment options for pancreatic cancer vary widely. Typically, treatment involves surgery, or at least, the removal of part of the pancreas. However, this does not cure the disease and will not remove any of the cancer that has spread elsewhere in the body. In the meantime, patients may benefit from pain medications and palliative care. A doctor may recommend chemotherapy or radiation therapy, which slows tumor growth and provides pain relief.

A pancreatic tumor can cause jaundice, a condition in which bilirubin builds up in the blood. A tumor may also block the bile duct, causing a buildup of bilirubin in the blood. Jaundice may also be accompanied by abdominal pain. Although not every symptom of pancreatic cancer will be present, it is best to see a physician if you have any of these symptoms.

Patients with suspected pancreatic cancer should see their GP immediately to seek appropriate diagnosis and treatment. During a visit to the GP, patients should mention any unusual symptoms to the doctor. A specialist may not scan the pancreas unless symptoms appear. In addition, pancreatic cancer symptoms can be mistaken for other diseases, such as ulcers or a cold. Depending on the type of pancreatic cancer, you may also need to go for other tests, such as MRI or ultrasound.

Another symptom of pancreatic cancer is back pain. The disease can spread to the nerves surrounding the pancreas, causing back pain. However, back pain is a relatively common symptom and is often caused by other conditions. Pancreatic cancer patients usually lose weight and experience little appetite. The pain associated with the disease is usually worse after a meal. These symptoms may be due to the presence of the tumor in the pancreas.

Surgery is another treatment option for pancreatic cancer. It involves inserting a plastic or metal tube into the pancreas. This is called endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography or ERCP. The endoscope is inserted through the throat, the upper small intestine, or the stomach. The procedure will provide images of the bile ducts and the pancreas.
