Parkinson’s disease affects the brain’s dopamine-producing cells, a neurotransmitter that controls movement. The disease causes this part of the brain to stop making dopamine, causing symptoms like tremors and slow movement. The condition is lifelong, but can be controlled with medical treatments and lifestyle changes. You should consult your doctor to learn more about your symptoms and what treatment is best for you.

Early symptoms of Parkinson’s are mild and may not interfere with daily life. Some may even have only one side affected by the disease. But as the disease progresses, the symptoms become more apparent. These include muscle stiffness, difficulty walking, and difficulty with speech. Depending on the severity of the disease, these symptoms may be present on both sides of the body.

Parkinson’s disease is caused by the gradual death of neurons in the substantia nigra, the part of the brain that controls movement. Because of this, the brain produces less dopamine and movements become increasingly difficult. Scientists still don’t know why these neurons die. However, their degeneration causes a gradual decline in dopamine levels in the brain.

Early symptoms of Parkinson’s disease may include uncontrollable movements, tremors, and slowness of movement. People with this disease may also experience mental changes, fatigue, and impaired memory. The effects of Parkinson’s disease may even impair one’s ability to walk or talk. Fortunately, the disease is treatable, and with the right treatment, the symptoms can be managed and the patient can lead a normal life.

Other symptoms of the disease include loss of balance and slowness of movement. By stage three, these symptoms may make daily activities difficult for the sufferer. It’s common for people with this disease to experience falls, and they may even become unable to live on their own. Eventually, they may need a wheelchair or bed to move about. They may also experience hallucinations. They may even have trouble turning their heads and seeing things.

Parkinson disease is a progressive neurological condition caused by the gradual degeneration of nerve cells in the middle part of the brain. The disease results in a lack of dopamine, a chemical messenger responsible for smooth, controlled movements. The symptoms of the disease begin to show after 70 percent of the dopamine-producing cells in the brain stop functioning normally. While there is no cure for the disease, medications can help patients live an independent life.
